12 awesomely innovative websites

After all the Googling, ebaying and emailing one is left to wonder how monotonous Internet can be. Here is my list of 12 innovative websites which offer you some break from routine:
  1. Mahalo

    Mahalo

Called human powered search, its a search engine which returns search results not algorithmically but those recommended by people. However, it is somewhat ambitious to call it a search engine and the website has a lot of catching up to do in that regard.

  2. Happy News

    happy news

News these days may be disturbing because so much we hear is sad and unhappy. Finally for our relief, a site which offers only news which are happy and bound to lift up our spirits. So start your day with whats good and happy around you.

  3. Miniature Earth

    miniature earth

Reduce the world's population to a 100 and this is how it will be like. Miniature earth offers a realistic vision of what our world is still like, despite all our complacence. We have a lot to catch up on for a perfectly equitable society.

  4. Murphy's Law

    Murphy's law

Remember Murphy? "Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong." A website dedicated to Murphy's Law explores the pessimist side of various laws. The site can be a good time killer.

  5. Deathclock

    Death clock

Statutory Warning: Please do not take this website seriously. It does not have much of analytical or statistical basis and when you repeat it with your own data it may give different results. But, its still fun and somewhat creepy. Its worth a one time use.

  6. Search Me

    search me

Search Me is yet another search engine, but it does things slightly differently. Powered with its patented visual search feature, this site is good to play around with. The results quality is certainly not as good as Google's.

  7. XKCD

    xkcd

They have this huge list of geeky cartoons hosted on simple Web pages. The cartoon strips are truly awesome.

  8. Best Page in the Universe

    best page in the universe

A website with loads of attitude. It is a personal humorous website heaping insults on anything the author does not like. The first sentences on the site read: "This page is about me and why everything I like is great. If you disagree with anything you find on this page, you are wrong."

  9. Wayback Machine

    wayback machine

Look into history of websites. This site archives different websites over different periods of time. It is great to look at some sites' old versions. A trip down the memory lane.

  10. The Memory Hole

    the memory whole

Includes documents released under the US Freedom of Information Act that reveal government activities rarely reported by the mainstream media.

  11. Uncyclopedia

    uncyclopedia

A satirical version of wikipedia. The articles are fun to read and moreover you can contribute too.

  12. Whopper Virgins

This may be one of the strangest websites. So, these guys travel countries find people who have no idea of burgers and how to eat them. Hamburgers are offered to them and their reactions recorded in a video and posted on this site. Its fun to watch.

These are really the awesome

These are really the awesome sites I have seen! Good collection and keep updating it because I am sure some new awesome sites keep coming.
